Brené Brown said, “I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.”
By creating a genuine and trusting connection with my clients, we embark on the counseling journey together to promote meaningful outcomes. Feeling understood and having a space where you can come as you are and truly be accepted allows you to feel valued and supported. Connection to others promotes a sense of belonging and fulfillment.
I utilize varying approaches to make connections with children, teens, and adults. For children, I primarily used play-based approaches and see their play as their communication and understanding of the world around them. Working with teenagers, I used a mixed approach to allow communication and processing of their experiences. With adults I focus on what they hope to gain from working together and help them navigate their stressors in their life.
I work to intentionally consider how we collaborate and connect to ensure your needs are being met. I believe that connection allows you to be your authentic self as you navigate life day in and out. I am a limited licensed counselor who is working toward their doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision. I have a wide array of experiences in clinical work and look forward to meeting clients and being a part of the Freedom Counseling team!
